Isabelle Mercier was born on August 5, 1975 in Canada. She grew up in Victoriaville, Quebec and later went on to earn a law degree from the Université de Montréal. Isabelle worked part time at a casino as a blackjack dealer to help pay for her college expenses. She later moved to Paris, France and earned a Masters Degree. While she was in school she held the position of Poker Room Manager at the Aviation Club de France. She won the "Staff Person of The Year" twice at the European Poker Awards for the excellent job she did at the Aviation Club. Soon after she left her position there she started playing poker professionally.

Her first big money finish came in 2002 when she finished 2nd in a Master Classics of Poker no limit Texas Hold'em event putting $54,000 in her pocket. After this win she sold most of her possessions and went on the road. She lived out of her suit case for the next couple years moving from one tournament to the next. In 2004 she finished first in the WPT Ladies Night tournament. She was practically a star after beating some of the major female profession players like Clonie Gowen in that televised tournament. It was around this time that Mike Sexton gave her the nickname Isabelle "No Mercy" Mercier.

Over the next year she had many final table finishes including one win at a $500 no limit Hold 'em EPT event. In 2005 at the World Series of Poker she has some solid "in the money" finishes but sadly didn't make it to a final table. She did have one good finish in EPT French Open, she finished in 7th for a win of over $60,000. Since her win at Ladies Night, Isabelle has been an official ambassador for the popular online poker room Poker Stars. They pay for a majority of her tournament expenses and she also plays there quite a bit as well.

In 2006 she finished 5th in the $5,000 no limit Hold 'em event for a massive $175,000 payday. To date she has won over $600,000 from major tournaments alone.

What's She like?

Isabelle is very aggressive at the tables. Due to her time working at a casino she absolutely hates when players are rude to the dealer which can happen quite often in the world of professional poker. She is known for her unnerving stare down and can read players very well. Off the table she loves the traveling and has no plans on settling down soon. Isabelle is also very rarely with out a cup of java at the table. Almost every picture is with a cup a jave in front of her.

What's She Doing Now?

Isabelle plays in a majority of the major tournaments and logs in a lot of hours at Poker Stars. She still doesn't have a place to call home due to her busy schedule. She has no children and has stated that she wants to make the most out of every day before she settles down. She has aspirations of becoming the first female to win the main event at the WSOP.
