The Essentials of a Home Bar

There are some basic items every home bar should have, some of these equipments are already found in the kitchen and the others can be purchased. Always make sure that your bar is always fully stocked with the best liquors. Getting a list of the essential liquor and purchasing the ones you don’t is the best way to start building your home bar. Here is a list of some of the most important essential liquors;

  • Vodka
  • Tequila
  • Bourbon
  • Gin
  • Vermouth (dry and sweet)
  • Blended Scotch
  • Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • Light Rum

When you’re through with stocking your bar with the most essential liquor, get mixers and garnishes too, here are some of them;

  • Always have these mixers available – Lemons, limes, Cranberry juice, Orange juice, Angostura bitters Sparkling water, tonic water, Cola, Club soda, Ginger ale, and simple syrup.
  • Here are some garnishes – Lemons and limes, Green olives, Maraschino cherries and Kosher salt, etc.

You will also need some of the basic bar equipments, some of these tools might be in your kitchen already or if not you’ll need to purchase them. Here are some important equipment to get in your bar;

  • A standard Shaker – you can get either a cocktail/traditional shaker or a Boston shaker.
  • Electric blender
  • Strainers ( it helps to separate the ice from the liquid)
  • Tools for measuring like the measuring spoons and jiggers
  • Long Cocktail Spoon and sticks.
  • Paring Knife, Peeler, cutting board, corkscrew, Bottle opener.
  • Juice Squeezer
  • Glasses like Martini glasses, highball glasses and wine glasses for every occasion.

With all put in place, you will have a standard home bar fit for any occasion
