How To Make Simple Syrup

Written by bartender on November 18th, 2007

In a medium saucepan, stir gradually 1lb granulated sugar into 12-13 oz of hot water. This makes 16 oz of simple syrup.  Many drinks call for sweetening the flavors and mixing up the tartness of some juices used in some mixed drink recipes.  The reason behind making simple sugar or also know as sugar syrup is that sugar doesn't’t dissolve very easily in cold beverages.  But the pre-made simply syrup is the perfect alternative to sweeten up any mixed drinks like the red crush and the cafe cobbler, hurricanes, daiquiris or even a macdaddy.

Review of the easy simple syrup recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 2 parts sugar
  • 1 part water

Preparation:

  • Bring the water to a boil
  • Dissolve the sugar into the boiling water.
  • Once the sugar is dissolved completely, remove the pan from the heat
  • Allow to cool completely and put in storage container. Keep refrigerated.
