History of Vodka

The very first Vodka produced was used medically as disinfectant and as a relief from pain; this was in the early twelfth century. Later in the thirteenth century the drink was produced for drinking purposes when it was found to intoxicate, and since then it has been produced the world over for drinking pleasure. Initially it was produced by families for personal pleasure, but it is now produced on a very large scale by various distillers around the world.

There are many claims for the origin of Vodka, but from study it is believed that the first Vodka was produced in Russia since the word voda means water which will mean that vodka was gotten from the word voda of the Russian language. Others also believe that Poland could be the birth place of Vodka, since the Liquor is very popularly used in the country. If we consider popularity, we would say that Russia is the birthplace of Vodka, since the Russians take it with all meals, just as water is taken with every meal, so Vodka is taken like voda in Russia. This will silence every other claim for the original birthplace of Vodka – truly Russia is the original birthplace of Vodka.

Also, Vodka is of great importance to the Russians since it is used at religious function because they believed that the drink was spiritual - Everyone at events was made to drink from one big cup. The imperial banquet doesn’t begin without first serving bread and Vodka since the seventeenth century; this only shows how high the Russians regard it.

Initially, Potatoes was the major ingredient used in the production of Vodka, but later it was discovered that grains were better, so all distillers now use grains around the world for the production of Vodka. It is distilled several times and filtered to give an excellent finish. The distillation process is carried out with high verification, if the verification is very high, then the color will be very clear and flavor lower. Vodka has emerged as one of the best drinks around the world.
