Vodka is the best selling and fastest growing liquor as reported by the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. (DISCUS). It’s neutral with a unique taste, character, color and aroma that have defiled every effort of identification. Vodka is an all purpose liquor loved by all because it gives a mild hangover and it can be taken with any food.

There are different brands of Vodka around the world and they don’t taste the same. One would have expected all vodka to taste the same since it’s considered as a neutral spirit, but they all have distinct taste which makes people the world over to prefer one over the other. There are some specially flavored Vodka like the special flavor of the popular bartender Colin Field of Bar Hemingway (Hotel Ritz) in Paris. He adds strawberries, ginger and raspberries as flavors to plain vodka – this produces an excellent taste. Well, others mix it with tomatoes juice, tonic and …the list goes on. Some members of the Greater New York Chapter of Tasters Guild International tasted about 13 brands of Vodka and their evaluation has marked a major turn in the production and appreciation of Vodka around the world. Below is a list of the best tasting Vodka around the world:

1. Iceberg this is considered as one of the best, it originates from Canada with a long finish, distilled thrice with sweet corn and the only water used is from the old artic icebergs.
2. Armadale this is one of the very best vodka it originates from United kingdom and has a 40% alcohol content. It is distilled from barley and wheat.
3. Ciroc $16.99(375ml), $29.99(750ml) this brand of vodka originates from france it is made up of 100% wine grapes from southwest France. The distillation process is carried out for five times and fermented; this gives it a clean crisp taste.
4. Ketel One originates from Holland; it is distilled from 100% wheat. The production process takes more time and resources because it is made in small batches using copper pot distillation method. The first and last 100 gallons are disposed of for being too weak or too strong.
5. Citadelle originates from France, it is distilled 5 times using 100% wheat with micro-oxygenation $24.
6. Stolichnaya originates from Russia, $24. It is made of winter wheat processed using glacier water sieved through quartz and charcoal.
7. Finlandia originates from Finland, also made of wheat using glacier water, it lacks flavor without finishing sweetness. $22
8. Zyr originated from Russia, made of winter wheat and it goes through a 5 times process of distillation and filtration. $32.

The list of the best Vodka around the world goes on and cannot be exhausted; many brands claim to be the best, but the ones listed above are always preferred by people around the world. The definition of Vodka states that it is a spirit without color, taste and odor, so, the major factor that differentiates one brand from another is the ingredients used, the process of distillation and filtration.
